Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib University was established in Jamalpur district and granted approval by the University Grants Commission and Ministry of Education in 2013 as a result of the tireless efforts of renowned education evangelist Mirza Azam MP (Former State Minister of the Peoples Republic of Bangladesh, Ministry of Textiles and Jute, currently holding Organizing Secretary of the ruling party). In the Mymensingh division, it is the regions first private university. The Panch Raster Moor (temporary campus), a 27,000 square foot multi-storeyed building, is where it is currently located at Nayapara. At Foujdari Moor, work is already well underway to build the new and permanent university campus, which will cover 30 acres of land beside the historical river, Brahmaputra river (Centre point of Jamalpur town). English is the language of instruction and examination at SFMU. Nine departments, including CSE, EEE, Business Administration (BBA, EMBA), English, Economics, Political Science, Sociology, Bangla, and Post Graduate Diploma in Library Management & Information Science, are currently home to more than 600 students enrolled in a variety of undergraduate, graduate, and post-graduate programs. Also, the campus of SFMU features a roomy theater, a sizable library, game rooms, a programming lab, an EEE lab, a moot court, parking, etc. To help both students and teachers, the classrooms are well-equipped with computers and projectors. Throughout the entire campus, students have access to Wi-Fi as well. We have a topnotch faculty with outstanding academic and research credentials, and our staff members are highly effective at handling administrative chores with complete security, accountability, and responsibility.
